The Guthrie City Council approved a bid Tuesday night that will construct a sidewalk near a school building as part of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School Project.
The sidewalk will go along Walnut Street from Lamplighter Court to just past Hillcrest Avenue with a cost of $182,402.46.
The winning bid was awarded to Tom Hudson Paving.
Safe Routes to School is a grant initiative through the ODOT to help improve pedestrian routes in communities with the purpose of helping kids get to and from school safely.
In 2015, sidewalks were improved from Wentz Street south of Fogarty Elementary to Broad Street as part of the Safe Routes to School Project.
