Boom goes the dynamite. For firework fanatics living inside the Guthrie city limits, you will now have a few extra days of popping fireworks.
The Guthrie city council unanimously passed a temporary amendment to the firework ordinance to allow additional days due to the timing of the holiday.
The Fourth of July will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 4. The current ordinance allows for fireworks on July 3, 4, and 5th. With the amendment, fireworks can now be discharged this season from Friday, June 30 until Thursday, July 5.
Councilman Brian Bothroyd told the council that families will be gathering on the weekend prior to July 4 to celebrate.
A $15 permit continues to be required by the City and the time frame for fireworks is 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.
