With the approval of the Guthrie city council, three critical sewer lines throughout the city will be addressed.
The council will meet at their next meeting on Tuesday, January 15 at 7 p.m. inside City Hall.
One of the agenda items calls for discussion and possible action to solicit bids for three critical sewer lines, including 9th and 10th streets between Warner and Mansur, between Rosebrier Ct. and Bird Creek Lane and between Park and Drexel and Harrison and Vilas.
The sewer line located in the area of 9th and 10th streets between Warner and Mansur is an eight-inch line that has numerous cracks with a major off set in the line only allowing approximately half the flow and is considered to be critical.
This portion of line serves eight customers and also handled the water from the splash pad. The engineer’s estimate of probable cost is $24,950.
The sewer line between Rosebrier Ct and Bird Creek Lane is also an eight-inch line with a utility line bored through it allowing debris to catch on it plugging it up.
City officials say this line has several root ball location intruding in the line creating very little drainage and is considered to be critical. The probable cost is $30,420.
The sewer line between Park and Drexel and Harrison and Vilas is a six-inch line extending to a T Manhole that is collapsing. Officials say this section of sewer line has had several point repairs. There are sections of this line that is collapsing allowing ruts to intrude in line creating very little drainage and is considered to be critical.
The section of sewer line serves seven customers and the probable cost is $34,050.
The total estimate cost is projected at $97,000, including $7,580 in engineering fees, and would be funded with the City’s CMOM fund.
Council to consider two new 2019 vehicles
In other agenda items, council members will consider a 2019 Silverado 2500 HD extended cab pickup for the Street Department and a 2019 Ford F250 crew cab pickup for Animal Control.
Both trucks would be funded through the Capital Improvement Project (CIP) fund.
The Silverado would help fill the duties of Street Superintendent and the Public Works Director.
The Street Department currently operates with a 1983 model 1-ton 4X4 Chevy (old fire truck) that was converted into a flat bed with a sand unit and snow plow attachment, which was purchased through state surplus, a 2000 Ford 1 ton (old ambulance) converted into a flatbed, a 1999 Dodge 1 ton and a 2000 Dodge 4X4 extended cab half ton.
The average age of the fleet is approximately 20 years old.
Total cost for the truck is listed at $28,666, included in the price is the added options, through Carter Chevrolet on Oklahoma State Contract. These specific Silverado 1500 tucks are rated one of the best in their class. To learn more, Wichita Chevrolet Silverado 1500 could help.
The 2019 Ford F250 comes with a price tag of $29,301, including the added options, through Vance Country Ford on Oklahoma State Contract.
