Coyle Christian Church receives grant to purchase shoes

The Central Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up board recently approved a $1,000 grant to Coyle Christian Church to help with the purchase a pair of shoes for each student at Coyle Public Schools last December.

Coyle Christian Church’s congregation of about 30 members is dedicated to serving the children in their local school system on a regular basis. Last December, the group decided to purchase a pair of shoes for each student enrolled at Coyle Public Schools. Although it was a big goal, the congregation was able to raise $8,000 with the help from two dozen donors, including Central’s Operation Round Up program.

Last September, church members hosted a family fun night where they gave away more than $5,000 in cash and prizes. The event also provided more than $2,000 worth of school supplies to local teachers. The church plans to continue to contribute to the local school each quarter.

Central Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up® (previously the Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative) is a charitable organization that distributes funds to individuals and organizations throughout the communities within Central’s service area. Independent of Central Electric Cooperative, the Operation Round Up board administers the program, making grants available from money donated by Central members who choose to round up their electric bill to the nearest dollar.
