Coyle school teacher found not guilty of all charges

Bookmark and Share

The defense attorney proclaimed Stacey Brewer was the victim the entire time, and 12 jurors came to the same conclusion after they found a Coyle school teacher not guilty on all charges brought up against him.

Jurors took a total of 90-minutes from being excused to handing down their verdict. Brewer was being charged with six counts of lewd acts and indecent exposure to three female students at Coyle High School.

A 17-year-old girl came forward to say that Brewer, 39, exposed himself on a school bus on Feb. 3, 2010.

After her allegations, two other girls came forward with similar stories, saying that Brewer touched or exposed himself inappropriately in his office, the weight room. All three female students testified in the trial.

Brewer, who is currently on paid leave at the school, was facing anywhere between 30 days to 20 years in prison and a fine from $500 to $20,000.

Several jurors told Guthrie News Page following the case, that there was much doubt that Brewer committed the acts that the three female students had alleged as to what had happen. One juror said, “no doubt on all counts”.

The jury foreman told Guthrie News Page that she was very happy with all the jurors that they took the case seriously and ultimately came out with the same opinion. The 12-jurors consisted of 10 white females and two white males.

As each of the six counts were read by the court clerk, Brewer showed little emotion with the exception of closing his eyes after each not guilty was announced. Brewer’s family and friends, an estimated 20 people, were inside the court room as the decisions came down.

The trial lasted a total of five days to go along with two days of jury selections.

Thank you for seeing the story through not just sesationalizing the story and dropping it once the truth comes out that it was nothing more than a bunch of lies.

Praise the Lord! God truly answers prayers. May God bless Stacey and his family in whatever the future holds for them. Great job to his lawyers and great job to the jurors for seeing everything clearly.

  3. Is this a typo? “Several jurors told Guthrie News Page following the case, that there was very little doubt that Brewer committed the acts that the three female students had alleged as to what had happen. One juror said, “no doubt on all counts”.” Do you mean did not commit the acts? If so how did they find him not guilty? Makes no sense

I was the foreman on the case! And Yes we believed him to be innocent of all counts. No one believed he committed the acts, several had questions and we talked them out, went as far as re-acting them as best we could to get an it right for the jury team. But It was a stressful case and feel the right decision was made.

I do agree with the wording there, it’s a little tricky, but the main thing is he was innocent.

Not only was he proven innocent, the accusations were proven to be false. He was a victim and the DA had all the evidence they needed to support Brewers innocence and still chose to go to court. All charges should have been dropped once they saw the video evidence, heard the witness testimony, and did a “shorts” test. The defense attorneys were very respectful to all of the witnesses and handled this case with class. I wish I could say the same for DA’s office, who harrassed the defense witnesses and slandered the entire Coyle School District with unfounded accusations in their closing statements.

    • Mr. Brewer was proven innocent in his last trial. Again he is being slandered by the news media with incorrect and untrue allocations. One wonders where this information is coming from. Perhaps the Prosecutor could answer this question in as much as he was corrected in the court by the judge for mis-stating the charges.
