Coyle students honor fellow student on homecoming week

Bookmark and Share

This week is homecoming for Coyle High School and there will be a pep assembly on Friday at 2:45 p.m., but the week also serves as a reminder for a precious girl who passed away a year ago.

teddy bearLike all spirit weeks leading up to the big game, there is a daily fun “dress up” theme. Monday was celebrity day, Tuesday was 80’s, Wednesday was jammies and today was Madysen Simmons Day, as everyone wore purple in her memory.

Simmons, 8, passed away last year on this day due to complications with  an asthma condition.

Friday is blue and white day, but Thursday is the day everyone will celebrate.

  1. Thank you for reporting this! I was very proud that the students and staff chose to honor Madysen during homecoming week in such a special way. Tonight the 5th/6th grade and middle school basketball players all wore purple on their jerseys in memory of this sweet girl. She will never be forgotten!
