Crescent man pleads not guilty in negligent homicide

Months following a horrific crash on Highway 33 resulting in the life of a Oklahoma City man, a 19-year-old Crescent man is now facing negligent homicide.

Bobby KendrickAccording to OHP on May 28, a Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound while a silver Mitsubishi Montero SUV was traveling eastbound and for unknown reasons at the time the Sonata crossed the center line and struck the Montero.

The driver of the Montero, Bobby L. Fuller Jr., suffered massive injuries and was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital Logan County a short time later. He was 61-years-old.

Negligent homicide, a misdemeanor, charge was filed in Logan County on 19-year-old Bobby Dewayne Kendrick. He pleaded not guilty in front of a judge on Sept. 19 and is expected to be back in courtroom on Nov. 14. Related story: One killed in head-on collision on Hwy 33

According to the OHP trooper working the accident, Kendrick freely told him that the prior night he had stayed up all night playing “Black Ops 2” video game. At about 9:30 a.m. he traveled to Guthrie for breakfast and was returning back home to Crescent when the accident occurred. He admitted he was sleepy and did not remember anything else and believes he did fall asleep at the wheel.

Wreck 05282013Kendrick suffered a broken femur, toes, five ribs, hands, a fractured skull, neck vertebrae, a collapsed lung and a punctured heart. He was airlifted from the scene to OU Medical Center.

Tests results showed Kendrick did not have alcohol or drugs in his system at the time of the accident.

If found guilty, Kendrick faces a possible fine between $100 to $1,000, imprisonment up to a year, or both.
