Dan Burlison and Jeff Jordan were named Employees of the Month in January for Guthrie Public Schools.
Both recipients were presented with a plaque and a $25 Sonic gift card from the Lions Club.
Lesley Cotton knew Burlison has always been courteous and genuinely cared about his maintenance job for the schools, but it was a malfunctioning gate that got the attention of Cotton.
Cotton attempted to look at a gate not latching on a school’s playground but was stopped by Burlison.
“Dan quickly found the issue and fixed the issue in under three minutes,” Cotton said in her in nomination letter for Support Staff Employee of the Month.
“Dan is always busy, yet not too busy to wish you a good morning or ask how your day has been or going.”

Lori Lucas says Guthrie High School teacher Jeff Jordan has been a listening post for his fellow teachers, who have been on the fence of staying through the school year.
“Not only did Jeff have to keep those teachers remaining with the department happy, he also had to welcome and help each new teacher that was hired,” Lucas said. “It was literally (another) full-time job from the second week of school and still continues.”
Lucas said Jordan spent hours answering questions, texts, emails and phone calls trying to encourage the new teachers.
“It’s been an experience I would not wish on anyone,” Lucas said. “Thank goodness Jeff Jordan was guiding our ship.”
