The Town of Cashion will be honoring fellow officer Dave Wade with a timed race and a fun run on May 26.
“This is all about getting families together and having fun in a safe environment” Cashion Police Chief Veronica Thomas said.
Wade was killed in the line of duty on April 18, 2017 while serving an eviction notice. Dave began his law enforcement career in Cashion before moving on to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
He was a tremendous officer and this is a way to honor his memory,” Thomas added.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. with proceeds being donated to the Concerns of Police Officers (C.O.P.S.) Oklahoma Chapter.
Thomas says the 5k race will be timed, certified and sanctioned.
“It is being supported and sponsored by the Cashion Police Department and we have partnered with a lot of great agencies to make this a great race,” Thomas said.
In addition to the race, food trucks, vendors, bounce house and an OBI blood drive will be setup.
“We would love for everyone to come out and participate in honoring a great man. Those who sign up will get a commemorative dry-fit t-shirt. The first three winners in each category will receive medals. After the race is over, come and watch the Lance Beutler Memorial Softball Tournament at our ball fields to finish out your day,” the police chief added.
