Senior guard TJ Wilson was the spark Guthrie needed after scoring just 30 points the day before. Wilson drill three 3-pointers in the first quarter and added three more in the game. He finished with a game high 20 points and was named the Legend’s Legend of the Game.

Guthrie was without junior L’liott Curry, who sat out with an injury.

The BlueJays jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first three minutes, but Del City finished the next five minutes with an 11-6 advantage to pull within 1-point, 12-11, after the first quarter.

Del City (4-2) picked up their first lead, 19-18, of the day at the 4:08 mark of the second quarter thanks to an 8-2 run in a span of 2:22. Eventually, the Eagles put up 19 points in the second quarter compared to Guthrie’s eight points.

A big part of the game came in the fourth quarter when senior guard TJ Wilson drilled a 3-point shot to pull Guthrie within four points, but on the other end Del City hit a 3-point shot of their own to go with a foul under the basket. The Eagles then hit a field goal off the inbound play to take it from a four point game to a 9 point game in a matter of seconds.

However, Guthrie was able to tie the game back up at 49-all with two minutes to play in the game.

Guthrie (1-2) was led by seniors Edgar Baez and Bailey Nichols with 14 points. Adding in double-digit scoring was junior L’liott Curry with 12.

The Jays were impressive from the free throw line by hitting 12-of-13, including a perfect 10-10 in the second half.

The Jays will now turn around and play Heritage, AR at 3:30 on the consolation side of the bracket on Friday afternoon.
