Updated at 11:25 p.m. — 35-year-old Travis Lee Payton was booked into the Logan County Jail at 1:32 a.m. Tuesday. He was taken into custody for shooting with intent to kill.
It will be up to the District Attorney’s Office to determine formal charges, which could happen either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Updated at 11:25 p.m. — There is no updated information on the condition of the female victim, who arrived at the hospital at 6:30 p.m.
Updated at 9:15 p.m. — Travis Lee Payton has been located and detained near S.E. 15th Street and Eastern in Oklahoma City by Oklahoma City police. Logan County deputies are now en route to take custody of him.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations has been called in to assist with the investigation and arrived to the scene at 9:30 p.m.
Updated at 8:15 p.m. — The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a person of interest in the shooting that took place on Monday evening.
Investigators are looking for Travis Lee Payton as a person of interest in the case.
Payton has pleaded guilty to several felonies in the past, including possession of meth, second degree burglary, domestic assault and battery by strangulation and escape from arrest, according to online records.
Investigators said Payton was last seen driving a silver HHR with tag number GCW038 in the area of Penn and Charter Oak and could be en route to Cleveland County area. If you come into contact with this individual do not approach him, call 911.
Payton is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Logan County deputies are in the early stages of investigating a shooting that took place in southern Logan County on Monday evening.
Deputies began to arrive to the shooting scene in the 10000 block of W. Sarah Road — north of the intersection of Pennsylvania Ave. and Charter Oak Road at 6:02 p.m.
The report of the shooting came in at approximately 5:45 p.m.
The victim was transported by a personal vehicle intended for Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, but stopped at the Deer Creek Fire Department No. 2 station on Penn Ave.
Deer Creek alerted Guthrie EMS that a female had suffered multiple gun shot wounds in the shoulder/right chest area and in the abdomen. They alerted that the victim was alert and conscious.
She is now (6:13 p.m.) being transported to OU Medical Center by Guthrie EMS.
The initial report indicated that the shooting may have been accidental by a neighbor, who called 911. The same report stated the bullet(s) may have ricocheted.
At this time (6:20 p.m.), deputies have not been able to locate the neighbor.
