The fatality collision took place just after 3:00, on Friday,  on State Highway 74 just north of Charter Oak.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Betsy Randolph, 36-year-old Aimee Pando of Guthrie was driving northbound on the highway when her car left the roadway to the right. She overcorrected, and the car crossed the center line, striking an oncoming pickup head on.

The front seat passenger, whose named has not been released, was also killed.

A 1-year-old child, Able Pando, was in the car and survived the wreck. Troopers credited the car seat with saving the boy’s life. The child was taken to The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center for precautionary reasons and was later released.

The other driver, Kyle McGehee, a 35-year-old Norman resident, sustained massive injuries in the wreck and has been hospitalized in serious condition.

The Deer Creek Fire Department freed Pando and the unidentified passenger after they were pinned for just over three hours.

Pando’s condition at the time of the wreck is under investigation, according to the OHP.

Update: Guthrie News Page has learned the passenger in the car who was also killed in the accident was Van Free, 59, of Guthrie, who was Pando’s father. He was an auto mechanic.

A memorial service for the father and daughter is at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Guthrie under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home of Guthrie.
