Guthrie Public Schools will search for a new administrative after the Perkins Board of Education named Doug Ogle as their next superintendent.
“(I) have accepted the offer to be the next Superintendent of Perkins-Tryon Public Schools,” Ogle said who leaves as the Asst. Superintendent of GPS.
The announcement came on Thursday, June 8.
“I’m excited for the next chapter in my career and am humbled that the P-T Board of Education chose me as their next Superintendent. I look forward to working with P-T Board of Education, district staff, and community building on the values and traditions that make it special,” Ogle said.
Ogle had served the Guthrie school district as the Asst Superintendent since August 2017. Ogle first came to the school district as the Junior High principal before moving to the Administration Building as an Executive Director.
In 2018, 2020, and 2023, Ogle was named the Oklahoma Association of School Administrators (OASA) Asst. Superintendent of the Year for District 3.
“I’ve said this many times privately through the process but I wanted to say it publicly, Thank You for your service to our students and community,” Simpson said of Ogle.
Ogle, a well-known community leader, served in many crucial fundraising campaigns for the United Way of Logan County and Guthrie YMCA. In addition, Ogle established and orchestrated Leadership Guthrie through the Chamber of Commerce.
“I would like to thank Dr. (Mike) Simpson, the GPS Board of Education, the amazing staff of GPS, and the community of Guthrie for the last ten years. It’s truly been an honor to represent the school district and community,” Ogle said.
The school district will now begin to find Ogle’s replacement.
Since the end of the school year, the district has replaced the high school principal (resignation), elementary principal (retirement), and assistant high school principal (retirement). The high school will have two new principals, Upper Elementary will have a new principal and assistant principal, and Charter Oak will have a new principal.
