Get out your running shoes and bicycles. With recent success hosting triathlons, Guthrie will host an upcoming sanctioned triathlon in late March.
Due to a delay in road construction in Okarche, officials with The Triathlon Club of Oklahoma City needed to move the race. They contacted Guthrie officials to make the move to Guthrie Lake.
Now, race officials and Guthrie welcomes the Guthrie Super Sprint Duathlon 2014
“The City of Guthrie has been very helpful and gotten behind this event. Look for this event to find a home on the schedule in the upcoming years as well.”
The course will feature a 3K run, followed by a 20k bike and ending the tri with another 3K run. The bicycle portion will take the athletes from the lake and out toward the Lazy E.
Race officials describe the course as “the run course is easy to follow and is flat and fast (really!). Bike course is a moderately hilly out and back in the leaving Guthrie Lake turning around by the Lazy E Arena.”
Race Day is set for Saturday, March 29 beginning at 1:30 p.m.
