It took Bryan Dutton just 21-games to do it, but with a 68-yard touchdown pass to Devante McCully, in the second quarter against El Reno, he became the all-time passing leader in Guthrie history.
Now the question is: how far will he take the record?
Dutton passes 2009 alum Keaton Callins, who threw for 3,544 yards in just a year and a half for the 2007 and 2008 BlueJay squads. Dutton, just a sophomore, currently has 3,617 yards under his chin strap.
“I am proud for him and I know that is a great honor,” Guthrie head coach Rafe Watkins said. “He may set that record up there where no one gets it.”
As a freshman, Dutton completed 145 of his 237 passes (61%) while throwing 26 touchdown passes and helped lead his team to two playoff, road wins and played in the state semi final’s. Dutton won the quarterback job just a week before the first game of the 2009 season.
So far this season he has completed almost 66% of his passes.
“It’s cool to have the record,” Dutton said following the game. “I have a lot of athlete’s around me and you have to give it to them too.”

Dutton’s next milestone may come this week against Western Heights. He needs two touchdown tosses to tie Callins for the most touchdown passes in a career. Callins threw 47 scores, including a season and career high 31 in 2008.
