Several residents lost an hour of sleep Thursday morning. No, it was not time to spring forward, but earthquakes rattling people out of their beds.
Several quakes were felt overnight, including a 4.1 magnitude earth rocker that not only shook Guthrie but several residents in Oklahoma City.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 4.1 magnitude quake at 2:33 a.m. The epicenter was located 6 miles south, southwest of Guthrie about a half mile north of W Forrest Hills Road and a half mile south of Seward Road.
The quake was strong enough to wake up people up and sending them to log onto social media. One post mentioned a family photo was broken when it was knocked off the mantle.
Many were estimating the quake was going to be stronger. The quake may have been more felt as it registered 2.1 miles deep. Quakes over the last several months have normally been at least 3.1 miles deep.
The second largest quake came at 3:19 a.m. with a 3.7 magnitude quake was felt. The epicenter, again, was south of Liberty Lake.
USGS also showed smaller quakes, including a 2.8 and 2.9 near Guthrie.
