Just days before school is set to begin, a Guthrie principal has resigned his post.
Guthrie Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson confirmed the resignation of Ben Hardin effective immediately.
Hardin’s resignation letter was received Friday, August 3. The open position is currently listed on the district’s website.
It was not disclosed of the circumstances behind the resignation.
Hardin, a 1983 Guthrie graduate, came to the school system in 2007 as an assistant principal at Fogarty Elementary where he served for three years.
In 2010-11, Hardin was named as an assistant principal at Guthrie Upper Elementary School and just concluded his second year at GUES.
Earlier this summer, it was announced Hardin would be the head principal at Central Elementary.
Simpson said they will consider the open position for the next school board meeting on August 13. The first day of school is set for Aug. 17.
