Elijah Jones named GPS Student of the Month

Elijah Jones was named Guthrie Public Schools’ Student of the Month for the month of January. He was nominated by his teacher Kristen Hooper.

Elijah, an eighth-grade student at Guthrie Junior High School, was nominated for his kindness.

“Elijah strives for academic success and is one of the kindest students,” his teacher Ms. Hooper said. “He helps others without question and always comes to class prepared and ready to learn.”

Hooper adds she has enjoyed having Elijah over the last two years.

“I know his future will be filled with success.”

The district-wide student of the month program is sponsored locally by Foundation Insurance.

Blake Wimsey with Foundation Insurance presented Elijah with a $50 Walmart gift card and spoke to the classroom about insurance.

This is the fifth year of the program that honors students for their character traits.
