An off-duty Oklahoma City police officer, along with a second person, has died after a one-car crash in southern Logan County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says high speeds appears to be the cause of the accident that occurred sometime around 2:44 a.m. at a tenth of a mile north of Simmons Road on Western Ave in Logan county and just north of Waterloo Road.
Troopers closed part of the road to investigate the accident.
The passenger in the 2011 Porsche was Sgt. Steven Elsass, 39 of Edmond, and the driver was Amber Brown, 30 of Oklahoma City.
An OHP reports both were wearing their setbelts.
OHP is investigating the crash, but says Brown somehow lost control of the vehicle causing it to flip and travel several yards.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office released this statement:
Sheriff Bauman, and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office humbly offer our condolences to the families, friends and co-workers of Oklahoma City Police Sergeant Steven Elssas and Amber Brown. Please extend your positive thoughts and prayers to their families, friends, and co-workers.
