Fatality claimed on Cimarron River bridge

One person has died in a two-vehicle accident on the Cimarron River bridge just north of Guthrie.

Eye-witnesses to the accident claim they saw a white 2010 Dodge Charger weaving across both lanes before colliding with a 2012 Ford extended cab truck towing a boat.

Robert Lee White, 67 of Guthrie, was pronounced dead at the scene due to  massive internal injuries.

The driver of the truck, Jeffrey Dale Harber, was evaluated, but refused treatment at the scene.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the truck was traveling northbound on Highway 77 and the Charger was traveling southbound when the Charger crossed the center line.

The accident occurred on the Cimarron River bridge.

The impact of the accident, at around 4:20 p.m., cause the boat to leave the trailer and fall 20 to 30 feet off the bridge and into the river upside down.

Although not confirm, the victim of the Charger may have had a medical issue just before the accident and is currently under investigation.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and both air bags were deployed.

Both lanes were shut-down until just after 10 p.m. as the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Logan County Sheriff’s Department and Guthrie EMS worked the scene.
