Faver student completes courses in order to enlist at USMC

Guthrie High School student Areli Guerrero moved to Faver Alternative this school year with the hopes of completing her graduation requirements early enough to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. As of January 23, she has done just that.

On January 17, Areli participated in her USMC Swearing-In Ceremony, where she took her Oath of Enlistment. Since she was able to complete the courses necessary for graduation, Areli will be shipping out on February 10.

“She will attend Basic Training at Parris Island, South Carolina,” Director of Alternativ Education Juana Benson said.

Following boot camp, Areli will begin her aviation support training.

“Faver Alternative and Guthrie High School would like to congratulate Areli Guerrero for her accomplishments and thank her for her service to our nation,” Benson added.
