Former Logan County judge killed in vehicle accident

A former Logan County judge and long-time Guthrie resident died in a two-vehicle accident west of Cushing on Friday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 82-year-old Robert Ward, who was a passenger in a 2011 Chrysler 200, was pronounced dead after being transported to the Cushing hospital.

According to the OHP report, Megan Hall, 36, the daughter of Ward, was driving the vehicle and failed to yield when turning onto Highway 33 from Highway 18, west of Cushing, and was struck by another vehicle at 10:55 a.m.

The report goes on to say Hall stopped at a stop sign but pulled out in front of a 2007 Chevrolet pickup driven by James Alred, 45, of Stillwater, who was heading east.

When Hall turned, Alred took evasive action, but the two vehicles struck.

Hall was taken to a Stillwater hospital. She was treated for arm and leg injuries and released.

All three victims were wearing seatbelts.
