The Guthrie freshmen football team concluded their 2011 season with no problems to finish the season with an impressive 7-1 record.

Trey Wilson goes down field on one of two trick plays in the Freshmen 34-0 win.

The BlueJays blanked the El Reno freshmen 34-0 on the turf of Jelsma Stadium thanks to an eruption of points in the second quarter to open the game wide open.

On their first offensive possession, Guthrie went to their bag of tricks when Jays quarterback Tanner Meredith hit Trey Wilson on a lateral pass, but instead of running Wilson looked down field and found a receiver inside the 10-yard line. A few plays later, Meredith scored from 5 yards out to put the Jays on the board 6-0.

After an El Reno turnover giving Guthrie a short field, the Jays went back to the air. This time Meredith hooked up with Chase Neumann for a 17-yard touchdown score to up the score 13-0 with 3:06 left to play in the first half.

With just a touch over 3:00 left in the half it appeared El Reno may put enough first downs together to run out the clock, but turns out the Jays would find pay dirt two more times before intermission.

After a touchdown was called back on a holding penalty, Guthrie went back to the bag of tricks. This time running back Beau Davis hit Elliott Curry on a half back pass to go up 20-0 with the extra point.

With 20 seconds left in the half, the BlueJays kicked deep and for the second time El Reno fumbled and gave the Jays a short field and a scoring opportunity.

On the very first play with :16 left of the half, Meredith threw up the fade to Curry, who easily came down with the score for his second touchdown in eight seconds.

El Reno had very little success trying to move the ball against the aggressive BlueJay defense throughout the game.

The final score of the season came late in the fourth quarter when Nathaniel Luevano took a screen pass into the end zone from 5-yards out.
