It is going to be a busy week for the Guthrie BlueJay baseball team and so far this week has started out with two wins.
Guthrie defeated Noble 10-2 in a 5-inning run-rule game, Tuesday evening, at Squires Field to improve to 12-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The Jays have now won eight games via the run-rule (eight runs after five innings).
With wins over Chickasha and Noble this week, the Jays will now take on Stillwater (Wednesday 4:30), OKC Broncos (Thursday 2;30), McGuinness (Friday 12:00), and an opponent and time to be determined on Saturday in the Choctaw Tournament. That’s correct, six games in six days.
In the Noble victory, Kasey Gates collected his first win of the season by pitching all five innings. Gates allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking out two Bears.
Bryan Dutton, Landry Chappell, and Luke Davis led the way in the batter’s box with each collecting two hits. Chappell along with Scott Pickle each collected two RBIs.
