Fresh off a record-breaking football season and a wrestling state championship, sophomore Bryan Dutton is already hitting his stride in baseball as the three-sport star aided in a BlueJay home win.

Bryan Dutton is having quite a 2010 - 2011 season for Guthrie athletics.

The Guthrie Baseball team made it two wins in a row over El Reno after a 7-4 win inside the friendly confines of Squires Field on Friday afternoon. The game was played after being canceled, on Tuesday, due to wet conditions.

Dutton, in his first start on the mound this season, pitched four complete innings allowing no runs, allowed four hits, and struck out six Indians to collect the win. He made his presence known at the plate by going 2-for-3 with two home runs.

The Jays (2-2) collected hits from eight of their nine hitters for a total of 13 hits to match the same total on Monday in El Reno. With the two wins, the Jays are now 2-1 in conference play and opened the season ranked No. 15 in Class 5A.

After the Indians left the bases loaded in the top of the first, Guthrie collected two runs on a 2-run blast by junior first baseman Hayden Seifert. Seifert finished the game 3-for-4 and 3 RBIs and has now hit home runs in back-to-back games against the Indians.

Dutton retired the side in order in the second and the Jays offense took off again and this time scratched three more runs to take a 5-0 lead. Scott Pickle, Jacob Chappell, and Luke Davis all three singled to load the bases, where Pickle scored on a sacrifice by Dutton. Seifert followed Dutton with a RBI single to score Chappell and Landry Chappell followed that with a RBI double to score Seifert.

Pickle added another hit in the third inning with a double to collect his second hit of the day, but was unable to score.

In the fourth inning Guthrie sent just four batters to the plate, but it was Dutton increasing the score to 6-0 with a solo blast.

El Reno cut the Jays lead in half with two hits, including a 2-run homer, and an error to make it a 6-3 game after five complete innings.

In the home half of the sixth, Dutton struck again with another solo blast to push the lead back to four runs, 7-3. El Reno concluded the scoring with two walks and a double to bring one across the plate.

Guthrie will now prepare for the upcoming Ardmore Spring Break Tournament beginning Thursday. The three-day event will be a round robin affair with the Jays taking on Santa Fe South on Thursday, Latta and Madill on Friday, and an opponent (Ardmore, Western Heights, PC West, or Ada) to be named on Saturday.
