It took less than 48 hours for Gentleman of the Road Stopover in Guthrie to sell out 25,000 tickets for the two-day event to be held in September.
Tickets went on sale at www.gentlemenoftheroad.com on Friday morning at 11 a.m. and were gobbled up in the early hours of Sunday morning. Ticket prices were sold at a flat fee of $109 with no additional costs for the event to be held on Sept. 6 and 7.
Headlining the Stopover will be 12-time Grammy nominee Mumford and Sons. The English folk rock band has found much success in the U.S.
Mumford & Sons have won three Billboard Music Awards and the American Music Award for Favorite Alternative Rock Artist, and are nominated for six Grammy awards this year.
“We’re very excited that tickets have sold out for the Guthrie stopover. We really showed that Guthrie is going to be a fantastic host town for this event,” Guthrie’s Marketing and Economic Development Director Cody Mosley said.
Along with the world-wide sensation group, other bands such as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Willy Mason, Alabama Shakes, The Vaccines, Bear’s Den, Half Moon Run and Those Darlins will be a part of the Stopover.
Guthrie joins Troy (Ohio) to sell out their venue while St. Augustine (Florida) still had tickets for sale as of 2 p.m. on Sunday.
“There was a lot of excitement around the Guthrie Stopover in that after the first 15 minutes of all stopovers available, Guthrie had sold the most of any other US stopover. We saw consistent sales all throughout Friday and Saturday up until very early Sunday morning where we learned we had sold out,” Mosley said.
The Stopover has already had an impact in the Guthrie area with hotels rooms already sold out for the September weekend. Estimates of this tour last year put the economic impact of a concert in Bristol, Tenn., at more than $4.2 million.
“We’re ecstatic that Guthrie is getting attention from so many tourist and the economic impact that we’ll see will be great for our citizens,” Mosley concluded with.
