GFD responds to early morning house fire

Firefighters were called out in the early part of Friday morning for a house fire on Guthrie’s east side.

The Guthrie Fire Department was dispatched to 1706 E. Oklahoma for the structure fire.

As crews arrived at around 2:30 a.m., flames were seen on the west side of the home in the living room area. The house was quickly engulfed with smoke and was escaping through the chimney and windows.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 90 minutes.

Battalion Chief Greg Machtolff says the fire was contained to the living room and caused minor damages.

Candles are believed to have possibly started the fire.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
