GHS boy’s tennis team secures regional championship

The Guthrie High School boys’ tennis squad clinched the regional championship earlier this week in Tulsa, setting their sights on the upcoming state championship in Oklahoma City.

Competing at the Riverfield Country Day regional alongside formidable opponents from Classes SAS, Booker T. Washington, Muskogee, Grove, Collinsville, and Southeast, Guthrie’s doubles teams emerged as pivotal contributors to the team’s win.

Dynamic duo Lane Goode and Carson Olmsted showcased their prowess by clinching victory in No. 1 doubles, while the Mayer brothers, Jaxson and Mason, demonstrated their skill and synergy by securing the regional title in No. 2 doubles.

In singles action, Guthrie’s Isaiah Dearman exhibited a commendable performance, securing a fourth-place finish in No. 1 singles, while Gavin Cook showcased his resilience, claiming fifth place at No. 2 singles.

With their regional success fueling their momentum, the Guthrie team now sets their sights on the highly anticipated State Tournament, slated to unfold at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center on Friday and Saturday.
