The Guthrie High School boys cross country program was surrounded by Class 6A programs at Choctaw’s Jacket Run, but that did not slow them down on their way to a team win.
The Bluejays came away with an 11 point win over Edmond North for the team title. The Lady Jays finished fifth overall.
The boys finished with 72 points followed by Edmond North (83), Yukon (114) and Choctaw (119).
After not running in the Guthrie Invitational, senior Trevor Sallee competed well and finished second overall with a time of 17:15 and 12 seconds behind the winner from Enid High School.
Senior Loren Husky and sophomore Grant Mayer finished with top 10 runs. Husky finished seventh overall with a time of 18:29, while Mayer finished in ninth place with a finish time of 18:32.
For the Lady Jays, it was once again Mercy Dement and Tori Wells running and finishing side-by-side.
Dement finished seventh overall with a 22:26 run. She was followed by Wells four seconds later across the finish line.
The two runners were the tops in Class 5A runners.
