The Guthrie High School girls’ basketball program is searching for their next head coach with the expected resignation of coach Malcom Roberts.
Roberts’ resignation — from coaching at the school — has not formally come forward to the Board of Education. However, the open coaching position was posted on the school district’s website on April 5.
In three seasons with Guthrie, Roberts and the Lady Jays compiled a 31-36 overall record with 11-13, 8-9 and 12-14 season records.
Prior to his arrival in Guthrie, Roberts coached the girl’s program at Classen School of Advanced Studies in Oklahoma City and compiled a record of 144-46. Prior to that he was the head boys’ basketball coach at Northeast Academy for six years (127-56).
Interviews for the vacant coaching position are expected to begin in the coming days.
