The Guthrie High School powerlifting team competed at the 5A Northwest Region in El Reno and qualified five for this week’s State Tournament.
The top finisher for the Jays was Caleb Sanders who finished second in the 168 pound weight class.
Sanders, along with Cade Whitfield, Justin Adams, Cody Hickman and Caed Guggisburg.
The state tournament will take place on Friday in El Reno.
To qualify for state competition, a lifter must finish in the top five of their weight class at regionals. At the state tournament, 30 athletes will compete in each weight class state-wide.
Oklahoma high school powerlifting is overlooked by the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association.
Northwest Regional Results from Sat 3/3 in El Reno
Caed Guggisburg finished 6th in the 145 lbs weight class.
Caleb Sanders finished 2nd in the 168 lbs weight class.
Cade Whitfield finished 5th in the 168 lbs weight class.
Justin Adams finished 5th in the 181 lbs weight class.
Justin Ergang finished 6th in the 275 lbs weight class.
Dylan Dollar finished 7th in the 275 lbs weight class.
Cody Hickman finished 5th in the HWT weight class.
Johnny Scroggins finished 6th in the HWT weight class.
