The Guthrie High School athletic season is days away from getting started and the radio team is set to follow the Jays across the state. If there ever was a year to have a radio team, the 2017 football season would be the year.
The radio team of Chris Evans, Casey Porter and Phil Nichols are now preparing for their 16th straight season covering GHS athletics on the air waves.
“It seems like yesterday it was 2002,” Evans said.
Earlier this year, the radio team was awarded the top Play-by-Play outstanding achievement award by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters (OAB) for the second time in four years. Related article: Guthrie radio team wins second OAB award for top play-by-play
