Guthrie High School will be having their annual “PINK WEEK” for the year this week.

This year Guthrie High School’s goal is to help one of their own currently fighting cancer, and in his name, will donate the money they raise to OU Medical Center which will go towards “HIS FIGHT AGAINST CANCER”.

GHS will have two “Pink Out” games with the Lady Jays softball game set for Tuesday against Noble and the BlueJays football game on Friday against Enid at Jelsma Stadium. The softball game is set for 5:00 and the varsity game at 7:30.

Schools around the state will team up with the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Oklahoma Cancer Center and the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association for Win-Win Week.

The week is designed to raise awareness for cancer prevention and research as well as raise money for cancer patients by focusing on cancer at athletic events.

The OSSAA awards state championships in each class to the schools that raise the most money. For last year’s inaugural event, Lawton Eisenhower, Duncan, Tuttle, Pawhuska, Wilson, Cheyenne and Timberlake were awarded state titles.

The GHS Student Council encourages all to attend the games dressed in the color pink to help support the Guthrie BlueJays, and a GHS student Fight Cancer.
