An acting president of Langston University has been named after a meeting of the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents.
The board gave its approval to name Henry Ponder as the acting president. He was appointed acting president by outgoing President JoAnn Haysbert.
Haysbert resigned to become executive vice president at Hampton University in Virginia.
Board chairman Jay Helm also appointed regent Andy Lester to lead a search committee seeking a permanent president.
