A grass fire near State Highway 33 and Santa Fe Road was swiftly contained thanks to the rapid response of multiple local fire departments Monday afternoon

Logan County Emergency Manager Steven Haga provided aerial support using a drone to monitor the fire and assist in coordination.

The fire departments involved, including Guthrie, Cashion, Crescent, Oak Cliff, and Deer Creek worked together to prevent the blaze from spreading further.

“Their quick response kept this fire from becoming larger than what it was,” Haga said. “It’s dry out there, folks, and it doesn’t take long for these fires to take off.”

The fire department also urged the community to exercise caution when burning, given the dry conditions caused by the lack of recent rain. Residents are encouraged to contact their local fire department to confirm safe burning conditions.
