The Guthrie Public Works Authority agreed to provide water to the Town of Coyle at Tuesday evening’s meeting inside Guthrie’s City Hall.

In June 2012, Coyle received noticed from the Department of Environmental Quality that their drinking water contains high levels of uranium. That is when they turned to the GPWA in hopes of providing water to the community of 300 people.
The GPWA trustee’s voted unanimously (7-0) with the motion.

With the 20-year agreement, Coyle agrees to pay GPWA for water purchased at the initial effective normal usage rate of $5.57 per 1,000 gallons.
The project is set at $480,000 with engineering fees estimated at $140,000. Funding for the project will be secured with a (100 percent) forgivable loan through DEQ and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
GPWA, who currently sells water to Langston University, will construct a six-inch diameter water line extending east from the main entrance of Langston University to Coyle’s water system. The length of the water line is approximately 7,100 feet.
