BJ McDonald and the Northern Mavericks will be playing Thursday evening in the Region II Tournament at Oklahoma Baptist University, in Shawnee, against NEO with an 8:00 pm tipoff.
The Mavericks have taken down NEO twice this year in regular season meetings.
The 6’3 McDonald was a 2010 honorable mention selection for the Suburban Conference in his senior campaign at Guthrie High School. He helped lead the Jays to back-to-back state championships in 2008 and 2009 and won a regional championship in his last three seasons as a BlueJay.
McDonald played in the USA Junior Nationals Basketball team and earned second team All American honors.
The Mavericks received a first round bye after finishing third in the conference. A win over NEO lands them in the semi-finals against either Seminole, or Eastern Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm. The regional championship game is set for 2:00 pm on Saturday.
The regional winner will travel to Hutchinson, Kansas for the National Tournament.
