Guthrie alum L’liott Curry officially became a unanimous 2021 Division II First Team All-American receiver for Henderson State when he received his fourth and final First Team All-America honor of the year from the Don Hansen Gazette.
Curry is just the second Reddie of the NCAA era to receive unanimous First Team All-American recognition.
“Couldn’t have been done without God and the people who helped me along the way,” Curry said in a social media post. “Great ending to my college career, but I know I’m no where close to be done! Stay Tuned!”
For the Bluejays, Curry was a two-way star and earned Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State accolades at wide receiver as a senior after catching 50 passes for 802 yards and seven touchdowns in 2014.
In just two years at Henderson, Curry etched his name in Reddies history and finished his HSU career with 175 receptions, 2464 yards and 30 touchdowns in just 23 games. All of those marks rank second all-time to Davis, who played 21 more games in his career than Curry.
This season, Curry took his performance to new heights and finished No. 3 nationally in receptions (91), receiving yards (1297) and touchdowns (16). He finished third in the stacked Central Region in Harlon Hill Trophy voting and had previously been named a 2021 First Team All-American by the AFCA, D2CCA and D2Football.
He was named the Oklahoman Big All-City Defensive Player of the Year honors his final season for Guthrie and was named Suburban Conference MVP and District 5A-2 Player of the Year.
As a Bluejay, Curry racked up 280 tackles with 27 sacks, 12 forced fumbles and five interceptions for his career.
