After three seasons as the boys and girls head cross country coach at Guthrie High School, James Strahorn has accepted a new role in Edmond.
Guthrie News Page learned on Sunday that Strahorn was offered and accepted the next boys head coaching job for Edmond North High School. Strahorn confirmed the move on Monday.
At Monday night’s Guthrie Board of Education meeting, Strahorn resignation was formally accepted.
Known for dishing out hugs and handshakes, Strahorn led the Guthrie programs to state tournament appearances in all three seasons, including last year with the boys finishing fifth and girls taking fourth.
In 2018, the girls finished state runner-ups.
Strahorn, who also served as a math teacher and track assistant at Guthrie, will lead the Huskies boys program along with distance runners for Edmond North’s track program.
