Students on the Guthrie High School JROTC ’89er Battalion Physical Fitness (PT) team and Color Guard team competed in the Tulsa Union Drill and Fitness Competition on March 26th. Both teams were outstanding.
The Color Guard had their best performance this spring in a very competitive event against 14 other programs from across Oklahoma. They finished just outside the top three, but represented GHS with precision and pride.
The PT team showed up to dominate, and they did, finishing first overall. The four-man timed event included a 300-yard endurance run, 40-yard weighted sled push and pull, four-35 pound ammo can ladder run spread over 40 yards, a 135 pound 50-yard trap-bar farmer’s walk, and 40-yard tractor tire flip.
Students on both teams dedicated time outside the classroom to perfect their performance and stay in physical shape to remain competitive.
