Guthrie man arrested seven times in four months

A Guthrie man has consistently found himself in trouble with the law seven times in the past four months and has been arrested nine times in the past 15 months.

Matthew Lee Taylor, 22, of Guthrie, has been taken into custody seven times since June for public intoxication. His first arrest came on June 4 with his latest coming on Oct. 18.

Taylor has pleaded guilty to six of the charges, has pleaded no contest twice and has a court hearing on his latest arrest on Nov. 2.

Of the nine arrests, Taylor has been charged with one felony when he attempted to rob a subject at a fast food parking lot in Nov. 2011. He was spotted wearing a red Elmo mask and police later found a folding knife when conducting a search. He was sentenced to 10 years with the Department of Corrections with six months suspended in the county jail.

Just days after being released from jail, Taylor was arrested for public intoxication for narcotics. He admitted to officers he had taken Dextromethorphan and Chlorpheniramine. He was sentenced to a $50 fine and to pay court costs.

Taylor was arrested two days later and then again 20 days after that to mark his third arrest in the month of June 2012.

In August, Taylor was taken into custody after vomiting twice at a convenience store and was later found to be under the influence. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, a fine and court costs.

In September, he was spotted in Mineral Wells while under the influence.

Taylor has been arrested twice this month. On Oct. 10 he admitted to be “drunk on cough syrup” to the arresting officer.

Taylor’s first arrest came in June 2011 when he later pleaded guilty to petit larceny after taking cold and flu medicine from the pharmacy area of a local grocer. In addition, officers found an energy drink stuffed in his front pocket of his pants.

  1. Oh my let the “harassment” comments begin.

  2. I think this is the kid that they couldn’t get to leave the wal-mart parking lot for nearly a week last year.

  3. Seems like this whole story is a harrasment issue. what is the point to this? Is there one? Or just a simple attempt to humiliate someone? Honestly Chris, what is the point? Is this the only troubled young man that has been in and out of jail in Logan County?

  4. If you don’t like reading it then don’t! Sounds like you and Fazal are friends!! Always blame somebody else.

    • no blame Michael, just asking what the point to this harassing “story” is. Sounds like you’re easily angered over nothing since as I read over my comment again, there is no blame, only questions for the source of this “story”. But right or wrong, you are also intitled to your own opinions 🙂

  5. It sounds like he needs help with his addiction instead of just getting in and out of jail….before he hurts someone or himself.

    • MOST PEOPLE DONT UNDERSTAND ALCOHOLISM AND ADDICTION IS A DISEASE NOT A MORAL ISSUE. CHRYSTAL YOU’RE RIGHT JAIL WONT SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. IF MATT DOESNT REALLY WANTS TO GET SOBER THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. MAYBE HIS PARENTS ARE ADDICTS AND HE INHERITED IT.NOT HIS FAULT. IT HAPPENED TO ME AND HAVE BEEN SOBER FOR OVER 7 YEARS BY THE GRACE OF GOD.

  6. Yes, I would be willing to bet he is the only one who has been in and out of jail that many times. Also, the point is that he needs to stay locked up longer before he hurts someone or himself when he tries one of those robberies. One more point, harrasement? Really!?! Was anyone harrased when he robbed them? I believe in Mercy, as my 6 year old son decribed it as a second chance, but we are well beyond second chances now.

  7. The Officers are doing thier job, it is time to fire the Judge.
