Guthrie Police identify victim from Friday’s fatal accident

Updated on Sunday, August 6, 2023 — Guthrie Police has released the victim’s name from Friday afternoon’s fatal vehicle accident.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Anthony Gibbs, Tabitha Cotton, 34, of Guthrie, was killed in the two-vehicle accident on S. Division St.


One person died Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash along S. Division St.

Emergency crews from the Guthrie Police Department, Guthrie Fire Department, and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3800 block of S. Division St. (south of Prairie Grove Road) for the injury-related accident.

Sgt. Antohny Gibbs tells Guthrie News Page a truck with two adults was traveling southbound on Division St. when an adult female failed to yield to traffic when she attempted to turn northbound onto Division at around 12:48 p.m.

The driver of the truck could not avoid the vehicle resulting in the collision and causing the female to be ejected from the vehicle.

Guthrie firefighters performed life-saving measures at the scene on the woman and transported her to Mercy Hospital Logan County where she was pronounced dead.

The female’s identity was not immediately given pending next of kin.

Traffic along the roadway was closed off to all traffic until both vehicles were towed from the scene at 2:16 p.m.
