The Guthrie Police Department, in partnership with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, will launch the 2026 Citizens Academy beginning Jan. 22.
The Citizens Academy is designed to give community members a behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement and how police services operate.
The program will run for approximately 10 to 11 weeks, with classes held every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Participants will receive instruction from subject matter experts on a variety of topics, including police operations and procedures, hiring criteria and recruitment, and other key areas of law enforcement. The academy will also include classroom instruction, tours of facilities and departments, and open conversations with officers and community leaders.
By partnering with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, the academy provides a broader understanding of public safety efforts throughout the county and highlights cooperation between agencies.
The program is open to residents interested in learning more about law enforcement and strengthening relationships between citizens and first responders. Those interested in participating or seeking additional information are encouraged to contact Filemon Vasquez at 405-282-3535 or by email at fvasquez@cityofguthrie.com
