Taylor Schroder and Isaiah Blevins led the Guthrie cross country teams at the 5A State Meet, earning all-state recognition while helping their squads to strong overall finishes.
Schroder finished 10th, and Blevins placed 4th, contributing to a third-place team finish for the boys and seventh for the girls.
The Guthrie girls totaled 193 points, with Bishop Kelley claiming the team title with 63 points.
Schroder, a junior, ran 20:02.1 for her 10th-place finish. Other girls’ contributors included sophomore Laina Richardson (43rd), freshman Kylee Canary (48th), sophomore Jaydin Alexander (54th), and sophomore Avelyn Sallee (72nd).
On the boys’ side, Guthrie was the top public school finisher with 120 points, while Kelley took the championship with 54 points, and McGuinness finished second with 112 points.
Blevins, last week’s regional champion, ran 16:16.8, while the overall winner was Claremore’s Carter Gibson at 15:41.4. Other boys’ contributors included senior Kallon Cyphers (20th), junior Josiah Dement (21st), junior Wyatt Watson (32nd), and senior Corbin Madison (55th).
Head coach Bryce Balenseifen shared his pride in the team: “We are very proud of how our Bluejays competed this year. Thank you to Coaches Reece, Jensen, and the Dements. Thanks to our fantastic administrators who always support our kids. Thanks to all the parents for your support of the kids and the program. It takes a village, and we’ve got a great one.
