The Guthrie boys cross country team will be headed to this week’s state meet in Edmond along with two Lady Jays after competing in the Class 5A regional this weekend in Tulsa.
Leading the way for the Lady Jays was Lexi Hastings, who just missed out on a top 10 finish by four seconds with a 13:42 time in the two-mile run. She will make a return trip to the state meet and this year will be joined by Lauren Toney, who finished 17th overall in a time of 13:57.
Stillwell’s Sydney Lawrence won the regional at ORU with a time of 11:52.53.
Rounding out the field for the Lady Jays was Aylin Paez, Kori Stayley, Michelle Barb, Brie Barlow and Alex Griffin.
For the BlueJays it was Brandon Greenlee leading the way with a 17:35 to finish seventh overall to help pace the team to a fifth place finish.
Hunter Stephens crossed next for Guthrie at 35th place in the three-plus mile run and was followed in by Ryan McIntire, Sean Harvey, Tommy Beauchamp, Dakota Pruitt and Conner Self.
The Jays totaled a team score of 176. Tahlequah took the regional title with a score of 64.
