The City of Guthrie saw another encouraging month of sales tax revenue, with June collections showing steady growth over the previous year. The monthly report, which reflects sales activity from April, highlights gains in key revenue areas that fund vital city operations and projects.
For June, the city collected $775,839.40 in sales tax—up 6% from the same month in 2024. That marks a $44,718 increase over last June’s total of $731,121. So far in 2025, year-to-date sales tax collections have reached $6,655,314, which is 3% higher than the same period in 2024 and 3.2% ahead of budget projections. That’s a difference of $205,314 above the projected $6.45 million.
Guthrie applies a 3.75% city sales tax on goods and services, which is divided to support several important sectors: 2% goes to the general fund, 1% to Public Works, and 0.75% to capital improvement projects. Including the 4.5% state sales tax and 0.75% Logan County sales tax, the total sales tax rate within city limits is 9%.
While sales tax figures show promising momentum, the city’s use tax collections—generated from online and out-of-state purchases—saw a modest dip in June. The city brought in $94,212, which is down 12% from June 2024’s total of $106,831. Year-to-date, use tax collections are 7% behind last year’s pace, totaling $910,561. Still, the city is tracking close to its projected figure of $916,391 for the year.
The continued growth in sales tax revenues is a positive indicator for Guthrie’s economic stability and reflects steady consumer spending and development within the city.
City officials remain cautiously optimistic as they monitor trends for the remainder of the year, with hopes that strong collections will continue to support ongoing public services, infrastructure improvements, and future planning efforts.
