The Guthrie High School softball team will host a four-team regional this week. The Lady Jays also seek a repeat trip to the Class 5A State Tournament.
Regional play begins Wednesday when Guthrie plays Southeast at 11 a.m. followed by Altus and McGuinness at 1 p.m. The losers will play at 3 p.m., while the winners will square off at 5 p.m.
The double elimination tournament concludes Thursday with game times at noon, 2 p.m., and an if necessary game at 4 p.m.
Guthrie, the regional favorite, enters with an impressive 22-7 record. The second seed Altus brings in an 18-16 record, the third seed McGuinness is 8-15 and the fourth seed Southeast is 8-19.
The winner of the Guthrie Regional will play at the state tournament on Thursday, October 6 at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
In all regional tournament play, tickets are $7 plus a $1.35 fee online and $10.00 at the gate for adults and students for each session.
