Two people from Guthrie have made their way to Louisiana to help flood victims.
Karen Wallis and Dena Porter are two volunteers with the American Red Cross and left Guthrie on Wednesday to help thousands of people, who are seeking refuge from disastrous flooding in the Baton Rogue area.
At least seven people have been killed and more than 20 thousand people rescued since the flooding began almost a week ago.
Local officials are reporting that 10,000 homes have been damaged, and some areas are still inaccessible. Red Cross workers are currently providing a safe place to stay, meals and comfort—and more relief supplies and volunteers from around the country are arriving.
