The Guthrie High School wrestling teams competed Friday and Saturday in the 60th annual Malcolm Wade Titan Classic at Carl Albert High School, a tournament widely viewed as a Class 5A state tournament preview.
The field featured several 5A programs from across the state, with Carl Albert winning the team title, followed by Chickasha and Elgin.
The Lady Bluejays finished the weekend with five medalists. Lana Vaughn led the way with a second-place finish, while Ilamae Smith and Bailey Hardin each earned third place. Eva Luna-Ellis and Gabby Kirk both finished fourth in their respective weight classes.
On the boys’ side, Guthrie also saw multiple wrestlers place. Clayton Carey finished second, Colten Stevens placed third, Joel Landry and Rowan McHone each finished fourth, and Ayden Smith earned a fifth-place finish.
The Guthrie junior high boys added three more placers to the weekend. Cade Carey finished third, Malcom “MJ” Christon took fourth, and Hudson Green placed fifth.
Guthrie wrestling will remain busy this week, as the Lady Bluejays host Piedmont on Tuesday night. The Bluejays will then host District Duals on Thursday afternoon. Both events will be streamed live on Guthrie News Page.
