Guthrie’s final scrimmage moved to Langston

Bookmark and Share

Guthrie and Piedmont have mutually agreed to move their scrimmage on Thursday to Langston University.

The scrimmage, originally set for Jelsma Stadium, will start at 6 p.m. with the freshmen. The junior varsity and varsity will follow.

With 1.38 inches of rain over the weekend, Jelsma Stadium has several wet spots on the playing surface and coaches don’t want to take any chances of tearing the field up before the start of the regular season.

For Piedmont, they annually start their season with rival Deer Creek in week one. This years game is on the field surface, at Deer Creek, and Piedmont coaches were eager to play on the field surface at Langston to give their team a preview of what they will have next week.

The varsity squads are expected to take 24 offensive snaps and 24 defensive snaps for the final tune up for the start of the season next week.
